The city of San Diego is taking legal action against some victims of the 2024 floods.
Hundreds of homes were flooded in local neighborhoods, and some homeowners still haven't been able to move back into their houses.
Since then, more than a thousand homeowners have joined dozens of lawsuits against the city reports NBC 7, claiming they didn't maintain creeks or drains which made the flooding more devastating.
Now, attorney Evan Walker says the city is filing a countersuit against a small number of people alleging they didn't maintain drains on their own properties.
Walker says he doesn't think the suits are about accountability, but are meant to send a message, one of intimidation.
He thinks the city is saying, "if you mess with us, we're going to come after you."
