Rory McIlroy won his first Masters in an exhilarating sudden death playoff hole over Justin Rose to achieve a career Grand Slam and the best part actually happened in the gallery. Augusta National prohibits cell phones on the course so every patron was riveted to the action which engendered a sense of connection to each other often lacking in our selfie obsessed society. Covino & Rich, filling in for Dan Patrick this morning, consider whether banning cell phones should be standard operating procedure at all sporting events.
Steve Covino: "Paige Spiranac, who's been on the show, made a post..."
Rich Davis: "She's a delight!"
Covino: "She is a delight, she was great. 'Hot take, but I wish all sporting events banned phones. It was so special to see everyone enjoying the moment and being present...' And that's kind of what you saw at the Masters this weekend when people were really in the moment watching (Rory) McIlroy win!"
Rich: "You're forced to be the old social, not reliant on your phone version of yourself."
Covino: "So, what do you think about at all sporting events?"
Rich: "I think it's fantastic!"
