Padres Beat PIT 2-0 Tingler "Pitchers Are Really Freaking Good Right Now

Pittsburgh Pirates v San Diego Padres

Miguel Diaz was impressive in his spot start for the Padres, Pirates starter Tyler Anderson was even more so for six innings.

Anderson held the Padres hitless through six innings, but Wil Myers single in the 7th inning broke it up following a leadoff walk to Manny Machado, Tommy Pham's sacrifice fly ended the scoreless drought and Austin Nola added an insurance run with a double to center, his first RBI of the season. The two runs were all that the Padres needed as five relievers held the Pirates scoreless through the final six innings in San Diego's 2-0 win.

Diaz, making his first start since 2017, shutout the Pirates through three innings, allowing one hit, two walks and three strikeouts.

Padres manager Jayce Tingler discussed the win, another outstanding effort by the bullpen, why offense is down across baseball, Ha-seong Kim's brilliant play plus Diaz and Austin Nola on the win.
