For men and women injured while serving in the military, Warrior Foundation Freedom Station offers a safe and supportive place to recover, rehabilitate and ultimately make the critical transition from military service to civilian life. One of the organization's other goals is to ensure that injured warriors are able to make it home to be with their loved ones during the holidays and if they can't travel, to bring their family to them.
In a year when with so many difficulties and challenges, San Diegans opened their hearts (and their wallets) to make the goal of reuniting injured military members with their families a reality. On Friday, November 20, 2020 during their annual Give A Thon, over 1.5 million dollars was raised for the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station who will not only send hundreds of warriors home for the holidays but also continue their important work.
Warrior Foundation's founder was not expecting this outpouring of support, “The generosity of our donors has once again enabled us to make warrior wishes come true this holiday season,” said Sandy Lehmkuhler, CEO and Founder, Warrior Foundation Freedom Station. “This year’s Give-a-Thon brought in our highest total ever, and it’s all thanks to the dedication and philanthropic spirit of 760 AM, Armstrong & Getty, News Radio 600 KOGO, and CBS 8 KFMB-TV. They told the stories of our military men and women like no one else could, rallying the communities they serve to come together and make an incredible difference for our troops. We are forever grateful.”
