The Navy is now preparing the San Diego based USS Makin Island for possible deployment to the Middle East.
This is among the areas biggest warships and can carry over five-thousand military personnel and up to 20 fighter jets.
Marines from Camp Pendleton are expected to be on board.
The Ship is training with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and other vessels to operate in the U.S. 5th Fleet area, which includes the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
The Navy has not said when the ship will leave San Diego.
