California Is Tops For Cops

For the second year in a row, California has been ranked the best state in the country to work in law enforcement.

Finance website wallethub looked at career opportunities, protections and training to come up with the list. One of the biggest factors boosting California's ranking is compensation.

The average monthly salary for officers is close to 6-thousand dollars. That's the fifth highest in the country.

Analyst Chip Lupo with WalletHub says California’s strong performance was consistent with last year.

“They were number one a year ago. They found a good formula that works, and apparently they're sticking to it.”

The lowest ranked states in the study were Louisiana, Nevada, Arkansas, Hawaii and Alaska.
