26 Fires Set In North County

At least 26 fires were set in North County San Diego over the weekend.

North County Fire says the first fire was reported around 11:30 am Saturday, east of Mission Road near State Route 76 in Bonsall. Followed by several others along the shoulder of S.R. 76.

Over a three hour period multiple other fires were discovered along north bound Interstate 15 north between Fallbrook and Rainbow Valley Boulevard.

Multiple fire agencies from San Diego and Riverside counties, also from nearby Camp Pendleton joined forces to fight the fires. Firefighters credited favorable weather conditions, including higher humidity and low winds limiting the spread and aiding in suppression.

The cause of the fire cluster, called the Mission fire, is under investigation.
