After 18-months of repairs, the iconic Pacific Beach pier will reopen Monday morning. The pier was closed in December of 2023 after suffering significant structural damage from a series of intense storms.
The pier also sustained further damage to at least eight load-bearing vertical structural elements by more storms that hit last year.
The repair work cost about 2-million dollars, and that's just a start. The city says more work is needed, but reopening the pier to the public is, at least, a start in the right direction.
