San Diego Agrees To Settle Discrimination Lawsuit With Former City COO

A discrimination lawsuit for former City Of San Diego COO Eric Dargan has been settled.

The suit was filed a month after Dargan was let go from his position in what San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria called a cost cutting measure. Dargan sued claiming he was not given severance pay.

The Mayor later said Dargan was fired for cause, making him ineligible for that compensation.

However, the city disagreed. The lawsuit was overshadowed by claims of discrimination by Dargan, who is black, and rumors he would fall asleep during meetings.

The payout will come from a public liability fund.
