A truly terrifying sight was captured on video as a California musician was randomly attacked by a man with an ax. According to KTLA, drummer Andy Torress was practicing his chops at Todd Longshore Park in Canyon Country when another man came up to him and started destroying his portable drum set with an ax.
“With no warning, just came up from behind … it was very scary, it was surreal,” Torres told KTLA. The incident occurred just after 7:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 2. Torres said the drum set cost him $500. “He could’ve simply told me to shut up, to quiet down and I would have obliged."
Then the situation became even scarier, according to Torres. “He pulled out a handgun from his jacket, and he pointed it at me. That’s when I didn’t know what to do anymore.”
Luckily, Torres captured the unprovoked violent attack on camera. “When he saw the video camera, his expression just changed and he said to me and the camera, ‘doesn’t matter that you have me on camera, I’m just gonna tell them you came at me, that you attacked me and provoked me.”
The video captured both the suspect's face and his car. “I’m very lucky to be alive,” Torres said. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating, reports KTLA.
