How Afraid Should We Be About the Delta Variant?

Don't stress about the Delta variant. Oooooooooo, the DELTA VARIANT!

Let's give some perspective. 80% of San Diegans over 12 years old are vaccinated. That's an incredibly high number. Add the people who got COVID and recovered and now have natural immunity to that 80%, we're surely over 90% immune. No doubt that's herd immunity.

In the last 2 months, May and June in SD County, there were about 50-100 cases of COVID. Today, there are 275. FREAK OUT! Delta Variant!

For some perspective, during the last major spike, there were 5,000 cases a day.

But here is the REAL question: What AGE are the people who are testing positive today?

Back in January, the people getting COVID were older and were at risk of hospitalization and death. Today, if it's a bunch of 30-year-olds, or 20-year-olds, or 8-year-olds who are testing positive, then, it might as well be zero cases. People of this age are fine.

Don't stress about the Delta variant.
