Doctor Fired For Giving Away Vaccine Doses That Were About To Expire

A Houston doctor has been fired and faced criminal charges - for giving away doses of COVID-19 vaccine that were about to expire. On Dec. 29th, Dr. Hasan Gokal says a vial of vaccine containing 10 doses was opened by a nurse - but there weren't enough patients to give it to. Not wanting to waste the vaccine, he gave it to his wife and some friends and acquaintances he rounded up before the six-hour window to use it expired. As a result, Gokal was fired from his government job and was even charged with theft - which was later dropped. Gokal says he was told specifically by state health officals not to waste any vaccine doses if at all possible.
