In a new statement released Thursday morning hours after pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, President Trump pledged an "orderly"transfer of power to President-elect Joe Biden. The statement said, "Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless, there will be an orderly transition on January 20th." Trump continued, "While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it's only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again." Overnight, Congress officially certified Trump's defeat after finishing the count of all electoral votes.
