After Bill Belichick took the job at the University of North Carolina, Dan Patrick compares his impending tenure to Deion Sanders’ efforts in Colorado. He doesn’t think Bill will be dealing with the minutia of N.I.L. deals and the transfer portal, but instead will surround himself with good people to handle the smaller things so he can focus on what he does best, coaching football.
Dan Patrick: “I don’t think he’s going to be dealing with the smaller things. He doesn’t deal with N.I.L. He probably won’t deal with Transfer Portal. Now everything is going to be run by him. There’s no salary cap. You’re playing in the ACC. It feels like it’s up for grabs. If Carolina’s getting money together, their collective, OK; if I just say to Bill Belichick, ‘Just coach! We have everybody else who will take care of other things.’ Deion (Sanders) doesn’t do everything! Deion is a CEO. That’s what Bill will be, but Bill is obviously a better coach than Deion. He’s not as good a CEO, but he’ll be a better coach.”
