It appears inevitable that the Houston Texans will trade defensive end Jadeveon Clowney once he signs his franchise tender.
The Miami Dolphins are one of multiple teams interested in the former #1 overall pick and Clowney recently paid a visit to the Dolphins facility to meet with head coach Brian Flores and other team officials. But would the Dolphins be willing to part ways with left tackle Laremy Tunsil to acquire Clowney?
NFL analyst and former scout Daniel Jeremiah made no bones about it, telling The Darren Smith Show it would be a mistake.
“Watching the preseason tape, there are more quality starting quarterbacks in the NFL than there are left tackles. There are very few good left tackles and I think Laremy Tunsil is the best young left tackle in the NFL...They would be nuts if they traded him."
The Chargers lost a key piece of their defense with safety Derwin James out for a significant portion of the season with a stress fracture in his right foot. Despite the setback, Jeremiah says the Chargers defense is still stacked.
"The Chargers aren’t going to be able to replace what Derwin James does.”
“Getting Joey Bosa healthy and the way he’s looked in training camp, and coupled with Melvin Ingram, and you’re seeing the first round pick Jerry Tillery and you’ve got Justin Jones, and Nwosu. They’ve got an unbelievable pass rush, so that’s going to take some pressure off the back end.”
Jeremiah also discussed the shocking retirement of Andrew Luck at age 29, and why he's the highest-graded quarterback he's ever scouted since he started in 2003.
