Truck Drives Into Crowd At Florida Pride Event

One person is dead, and another is injured after a truck hit them during a Pride parade in Wilton Manors, Florida. The suspect was in a white pickup when it happened. The truck was lined up with other floats and accelerated and ran over two men standing by to be in the parade. He was wearing a Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus t-shirt, and others in the chorus say he was part of the family. The injured men were also in the chorus. The chorus director released a statement that said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the tragic accident that occurred when the Stonewall Pride Parade was just getting started. Our fellow Chorus members were those injured, and the driver was also a part of the Chorus family. To my knowledge, this was not an attack on the LGBTQ community. We anticipate more details to follow and ask for the community’s love and support." According to witnesses, the driver was overheard telling police that this was an accident.
