The 6th Annual Aztecs for Life Blood Drive will take place Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 9 am to 7 pm at Viejas Arena with a goal to collect 350 units…the largest one-day collegiate blood drive in California.
Continuing with the legacy of the blood drive, the Aztecs are inviting all – students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community—to roll up a sleeve and help hospital patients in need of lifesaving blood.
This blood drive is held at a time of year when blood collections are traditionally a challenge. Donors are needed before the start of the holiday season as many regular donors delay giving between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day because of holiday activities. This often causes a drop in donated blood available for patients. Therefore, more donations are needed in the weeks leading up to the holidays to help ensure the blood supply is sufficient through the winter months. The blood donations collected will help treat cancer patients, trauma victims, surgery patients and others requiring life-impacting blood transfusions.
